PURPOSE

The purpose of the Award is to recognise the company with a forward thinking approach to the management of its products whilst working with its customers, suppliers, contractors and their supply chains. This company will devote time to focus on the interests of its customers and the supply chains in which they operate whilst enhancing its business and reputation.

These could include, for example, the provision of suppliers' or customers' support through a integrated Product Stewardship approach, the establishment and promotion of life-cycle thinking down the supply chains in which it operates, the safeguard of customers' interests by providing support and advice on products that are not part of the company's portfolio.

ELIGIBILITY

The Award is open to any chemical manufacturing company or one associated/working with it. Following initial judging, applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed by 1 May 2009. The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards Dinner on 25 June in Edinburgh and a representative from each short-listed company will receive an invitation to attend. Winning applicants should be willing to participate in publicity.

CRITERIA

Applicants for this Award will be able to demonstrate excellent Supply chain leadership practices in the following areas:

  • Successful and consistent chemical management processes across its value chain, achieved via partnership with interfacing collaborators such as hauliers, customers etc.
  • Recognised contribution to improved safety and environment performance attributable to these processes
  • Recognition of the success of these practices by industry bodies and other stakeholders
  • Ability to quantify this success in the most appropriate way
  • Commitment to best practice learning and sharing, via international industry bodies, aiming at continous improvement of performance.

JUDGING

The judging panel will consist of the sponsor, a CIA staff member, and an independent experts.

CLOSING DATE

Entries to be made in confidence to Mike Lancaster on the Entry Form which will be available in early December, signed by a member of the company leadership team, by Friday 27 March 2009.
