PURPOSE

This Award is in recognition of the company which has shown best practice in communicating to a range of stakeholders, enhancing its reputation and that of industry at large.

ELIGIBILITY

The award is open to any company working in the chemical industry. Following initial judging, applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed by before 1 May 2009. The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards Dinner on 25 June in Edinburgh and a representative from each short-listed company will receive an invitation to attend. Winning applicants should be willing to participate in publicity.

CRITERIA

The entry can describe any area of the company's activity, its communication with its stakeholders and contribution towards enhancement of its reputation and sustainability - that is its social, environmental and economic performance. It will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Excellence in proactively managing reputation
  • Creativity, idea and leadership that set an example to others in the industry
  • Specific initiatives that promote the company’s and industry’s contribution to sustainable development
  • Acknowledged excellent practice in communication with and listening to stakeholders such as regulators, politicians and local authorities, non-government organizations, news media, education - both teachers and students - and communities/neighbours.
  • Readiness to share this good practice with other companies

JUDGING

The judging panel will consist of the Sponsor, a member of CIA staff, and at least one independent stakeholder.

CLOSING DATE

Entries to be made in confidence to Mike Lancaster on the Entry Form which will be available in early December, signed by a member of the company leadership team, by Friday 27 March 2008.

Applicants will be consulted in case it is wished to use some material for future publicity purposes or for development of case studies.
