PURPOSE

The purpose of this Award is to recognise the company providing key support to companies who have an obligation to register substances for REACH. Its services could include, for example: being an only representative, consortium management, testing environmental effects and fate, preparing testing proposals, preparing chemical safety reports, validating registration documents, providing legal services, providing project management services etc.

The company will dedicate time to focus on the needs and interests of its customers whilst enhancing their own business and reputation; through the provision of their services, adding value in terms of quality, social responsibility and reduced costs.

 

ELIGIBILITY

The Award is open to any company providing a contractual service to a chemical manufacturer or importer who has an obligation to register substances for REACH or who has been appointed as an only representative by a non-EU company. Following initial judging, applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed by 7 May 2010. The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards Dinner on 24 June in Liverpool and a representative from each short-listed company will receive an invitation to attend. Winning applicants should be willing to participate in publicity.

CRITERIA

Applicants for this Award will be able to demonstrate an excellent approach to provision of services to the chemical industry and will be judged on:

  • Recognised contribution to providing an efficient, reliable and cost effective service to REACH registrants.
  • Recognition of the success of these practices by industry and other stakeholders
  • Ability to quantify this success in the most appropriate way
  • Commitment to best practice learning and sharing, via industry bodies across the world, aiming at continuous improvement of performance. 

JUDGING

The judging panel will consist of a CIA staff member, and at least 2 independent experts.

CLOSING DATE

Entries to be made electronically, in confidence to Mike Lancaster on the Entry Form which will be available in early December, signed by a member of the company leadership team, by Friday 26 March 2010.
