PURPOSE
The Award is to recognize the company or individual operating unit that can demonstrate world-class manufacturing performance or the most successful improvement to its manufacturing performance involving demonstrable excellence and/or significant improvements to resource efficiency (raw materials, energy, water, utilities etc) within the manufacturing process.
ELIGIBILITY
The Award is open to all CIA member companies manufacturing in the process sector: chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, food, packaging, rubber and plastics. The award is aimed equally at individual operating units or multi-site manufacturing within a single company, and will be judged on both quantitative and qualitative improvements to manufacturing performance over the past two years as well as overall excellence in performance. The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards Dinner on 24 June in Liverpool, and a representative from each short-listed company will receive an invitation to attend, sitting on the sponsors table.
CRITERIA
There is one Award category to cover the full scope of manufacturing processes; both batch/specialized product manufacture and continuous/high volume manufacture. Success in the award will be based on evidence of an organization that has developed or is developing its people and systems towards achieving excellent manufacturing & resource efficiency performance, and benefiting customers in terms of quality, cost and delivery achievement.
JUDGING
Judging will be in three stages:
Stage One
A panel of judges will review the answers to the entry form questionnaire and other supporting information supplied, and selects a short-list. Short listed companies will be notified by 13 April 2010

Each visit will last approx ½ day and companies will be expected to provide a site tour and a presentation on their nomination. The visits will be arranged during April. Additional supporting information may be requested before any site visit is arranged.
Stage Three
The judging panel will then reconvene to select the winners.
